Accessibility

We are committed to digital inclusion and making sure all visitors to our website have a positive user experience.

In September 2018 we commissioned The Digital Accessibility Centre to carry out an accessibility audit on our new site, to make sure it complied wherever possible with AA level of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1). The audit included a technical compliance review, plus over 150 hours of user testing by disabled people and following this the recommended adjustments were applied.

Accessibility style changer

You can find the accessibility style changer at the top right of every page. The buttons change the text size, background colour and text colour across the site. You can choose from:

Text size

  • standard (default)
  • large
  • extra large

Contrast and colours

  • standard colours (default)
  • pastel background with dark text
  • high contrast

Nearly all modern web browsers have options that can help you access websites more easily. If possible, try to make sure your browser software is up to date so it has the latest features, and is typically more secure.

If you need further help with making the web easier to use, visit the BBC's My Web My Way website to find out how to change your internet browser, computer, keyboard and mouse settings to make the web more accessible to you.
